Synopsis :
Billy Beane (Brad Pitt), ancien baseballeur professionnel prometteur mais à la carrière décevante, est manager général des Oakland Athletics.
Saison 2002, ses meilleurs joueurs ont été achetés par les plus grands clubs, Billy doit reconstruire une nouvelle équipe avec très peu de moyens. Pour ce faire, il va étonner tout le monde en décidant de croire en Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), un économiste statisticien issu de Yale.
Ils vont diriger et créer une équipe de baseball comme jamais personne auparavant, révolutionnant la vision du sport sans le savoir !!!

D'après une histoire vrai, le réalisateur Bennett Miller ("Truman Capote" film génial par ailleurs) réussi là où beaucoup ont échoué : concilier le sport et le cinéma afin de créer une osmose parfaite !
Chronique mélancolique, des dialogues tirés aux couteaux, un Brad Pitt exceptionnel (à oscar !!!), des personnages secondaires qui tiennent la route, Le Stratège captive dès la première minute. Son magnétisme sombre nous tient jusqu'à la fin, le film dégage un réalisme exacerbé qui le rend réellement attachant !!!
